We will break down our understanding of missional into three categories: what, why, how.
WHAT? WHAT IS MISSIONAL?  The word “missional” is not found anywhere in Scripture, so it’s important for us to define it according to Scripture.

o      Mathew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father [...]

The idea of missional living can be overwhelming at times. Don’t worry, its normal to feel overwhelmed, and to be honest, it should worry us if we don’t feel overwhelmed. Redeeming relationships, living on mission, and investing into eternity is a weighty calling.  In fact, it is hard to know where to even start!
What steps [...]

Community Fulfills the Mission

Posted on May 31st, 2009 by Danny Stiller

There is a concern that arises in people when they hear statements like “When we are all working on mission, community happens naturally. When we’re working on community, mission gets lost somewhere.”  Their concern is that when mission is held up as ultimate then care for others will stop and members of the community will [...]

Marks of a Missional Church

Everything was created to reflect the glory of God; however, through disobedience and rebellion all of creation was tainted and tarnished the glory of God.  God responded to this rebellion through entering into humanity history and walking amongst us, and his name is Jesus.  Jesus came to rescue and renew all that was lost through [...]

Missional Living at its core is living as a missionary in whatever context God has placed you.  It is adopting the posture, thinking, behaviors, and practices of a missionary in order to engage others with the gospel.  This involves understanding the culture, language, and background of the people you are trying to reach and meeting [...]

My name is Sameer and I am a guitarist for a rock band called Flyleaf. Personally and as a band we are often asked the question… “are you a Christian band?” To be clear on the front end, everyone in the band is a Christian. We all love God and strive to live and perceive [...]

People are taught the church exists to go, get, gather, and focus on keeping the people you gather, however, scripture teaches the church is to go, get, scatter (John: “sent me”-30+, Acts 1, Romans 1, Epistles) and our focus is to be sent and send out (missional communities). Below is a list of characteristics of [...]

Missional Community

If we are going to be missional people functioning as a missional church, then we have to understand the relational world. There are not many issues God is more passionate about than our relational world …especially moving people from isolation to community. Deep, authentic, Christ-centered relationships don’t just happen …it takes time and effort to develop them. [...]
