Beliefs
THE TRIUNE GOD - God is the omniscient , omnipotent , and omnipresent creator and sustainer of all that has or will ever exist. He is perfect in character and nature, exhibiting complete holiness in all attributes such as love, wisdom, goodness, justice, peace, kindness, grace, and mercy, to name a few. God is one unified essence, consisting of three persons -the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are co-existent, co-equal and co-eternal, but also distinct.
GOD THE FATHER
God, the Father, is the creator and nurturer of all mankind and existence. He is also the Father of His perfect Son, Jesus Christ. Names of God in Hebrew and Greek were given to describe the identity and character of God and to explain His person. God does not need anything, but in His sovereignty chose to be personal and relational, making man in His image and enabling man to relate to His person and to display His glory. God is unchanging in that no external circumstances or situations, in and of themselves, can affect His will for Himself or creation. He demonstrates emotions and feelings at his discretion, but is not controlled by them or subject to their influence in any way. God is intrinsically holy and is unable to tolerate or be in the midst of sin or any wrongdoing. God is the beginning and the end, always existing from eternity past to eternity future. God is utterly greater than of all creation and is completely independent of it. God is infinitely beyond and above mankind, deserving the highest praise, honor, and worship.
GOD THE SON
God, the Son, is Jesus Christ who has existed for all of time and possesses all of the attributes of the Father. Jesus is of the same substance as God, the Father, and in His life on earth, He illustrated perfectly the character and personality of God. He is the long-awaited Messiah , the Prince of Peace , the Lord of lords, and the King of kings. Jesus was conceived by the Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary to be the Savior of mankind and to bring glory to the Father. Jesus chose to condescend to earth and become fully man as well as remaining fully God to live a perfect life, die on a cross for the sin of all mankind, rise from the dead in victory over sin and death, and ascend back into Heaven. Jesus’ human nature was necessary in order that He might identify with the temptations man faces and in the end, pay the penalty for the sin of all mankind. Jesus’ divine nature was necessary in order that He might be the perfect and holy sacrifice for sin, completely satisfying the righteous wrath of God.
GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT
God, the Holy Spirit, is the third person of the Godhead who has existed for all of time and possesses all of the attributes of the Father. He is the counselor and advocate , filling certain people in the Old Testament and in the gospels for special tasks and ministries, and then indwelling all who would believe in the saving person and work of Jesus Christ. He is responsible for inspiring the writers of the Holy Scriptures, equipping believers with gifts to edify the body, and enabling all righteous and holy acts committed by believers.
